ショクダイオオコンニャク　開花終了

大変珍しいショクダイオオコンニャクの花が9/1に開花しました。

沢山のハエが群がっていました。

残念ながら、開花は一日のみとなりました。

次に咲く機会はいつになるか分かりませんが、楽しみにして頂ければ幸いです。

【ショクダイオオコンニャク】

インドネシア・スマトラ島の熱帯雨林に自生するサトイモ科の多年草。開花は不定期で数年に一度しか咲かない。一般的には草丈が３ｍ以上にならないと開花しないため、植物園以外で栽培、開花した例は極少。展示の個体はこの種としては小型で、希少な濃色花である。世界最大の花として有名で、開花期間は2日間程度と短い。

【Titan arum】

A perennial plant of the Araceae family that grows wild in the tropical rainforests of Sumatra, Indonesia. It blooms irregularly, only once every few years. Generally, it does not bloom until the plant is over 3m tall, so there are very few examples of it being cultivated and blooming outside of botanical gardens. The specimen on display is small for this species, with rare dark-colored flowers. It is famous as the largest flower in the world, and its blooming period is short, around 2 days.
